This work is an installation in space, consisting of 2 elements: a series of 11 boards on wall, each measuring 60 x 40 x 7 cm and a floor based work, consisting of burnt and torn pieces of oil paint. The pieces on the floor are torn off the boards, through a multilayered process of layering, burning and tearing. The residues and traces of yellow paint left on the boards after tearing establish the dual relationship of separation and connection between the two elements of the installation. This work examines a piece through its broken connections, explores the shifting relationships between pieces and the whole and the multiple opportunities to construct new wholes using the fragments as constituents.
In addition, the act of tearing also leaves residues, remnants, traces, and edges on the surface. The relationship between a fragment and a whole is about connection and separation, as defined by traces and edges left behind on the surface through multilayered act of tearing and removing, which separates as well as unites elements of this installation in space.
